Meet Mic!
Hi, I'm Michaela! I graduated from Red Deer College (now Red Deer Polytechnic) with a Legal Assistant Diploma in 2017. Since then, I have worked as a paralegal at law firms, including the Community Legal Clinic, where I specialized in the areas of Family Law and Estate Planning.
Throughout my career, I discovered a passion for reducing barriers to access to justice and providing affordable legal assistance to the public. My goal is to support clients with exceptional work and help them navigate their legal matters confidently.
My experience has allowed me to specialize in Family Law and Estate Planning, making me well-versed in court processes and high-conflict family matters, including those involving domestic violence. Additionally, I am an Alberta Registered Paralegal with the Alberta Association of Professional Paralegals and a Certified Legal Coach through the Legal Coaches Association.
Outside of work, I make time for community involvement. I serve on the Board of Directors for the Alberta Association of Professional Paralegals as the Secretary, contributing to various projects such as the Student Honour Society and Mentorship Program. I also hold a position on the Board of Directors for the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta as a Director-At-Large.
Moreover, I actively participate in speaking engagements and networking opportunities, enjoying the chance to present Public Legal Education Information sessions and speak with current Legal Assistant students.
To relax, I enjoy several creative outlets, including reading and bullet journaling. I also enjoy morning walks, spending time with my spouse and two cats, and tending to my indoor garden.
